New .... our Union City chapter

We are now the proud owners of a house in Union City! 2 bus stops from Times Square, 10 minutes from Hoboken and the ferries to midtown Manhattan or the Path to downtown. We'll be staying in Guttenberg until we get some renovations done on Union City but should be moved in by Xmas 2012 if all goes as planned. From then on we expect to see you anytime, as welcome visitors! You'll love the location, I couldn't think of a better place to live. Will post photos as we go .... and may move to write a more regular blog as we progress.

Sowing the seeds of our future

We're about to take the first steps to a complete lifestyle change. From quiet, parochial Brisbane to one of the most densely populated areas of New York. Guttenberg is a 'bedroom community' one mile as the crow flies from Times Square. 3 blocks wide and 9 blocks long with views of Manhattan across the river if we walk a few blocks.
This trip is going to be one of exploring; the house and all the potential possibilities it offers and all the various ways of getting to NYC - bus, car, ferry or subway (reached by bus). I'm starting this blog as a place to keep track of our progress with photos and finds as well as some of the progress we make and the things we do.
This trip it's Mike, Tracey and me, to a tulip-filled New York in Spring. We'll be away 3 weeks and I hope we accomplish LOTS in that time. Next year we'll plan a trip for the Autumn (Fall) just for the experience of a different season. Our final move will take place sometime around April/May 2013. That's when we'll settle into serious renovations to make the house we will live in happily forever after - our bohemian salon with a conservatory and a beautiful garden, with 3 bathrooms and always space for family, friends and guests.
It's the beginning of an exciting chapter! First have to get though the 22 hours of travelling next week.
